The Azure Window can be found on the island of Gozo in the small Mediterranean country of Malta. The arch is made out of limestone and was created after two sea caves collapsed. This particular type of limestone is very susceptible to erosion. Because of this, large pieces of rock have begun falling from the arch. It is expected that the arch will completely disintegrate within the next few years. I consider myself very fortunate to have gotten the change to visit and photograph this beautiful site. The size of it is amazing. The pictures do not adequately show it's large scale. If you look closely in some of the pictures though you can see people standing on top of the formation (which, by the way, has been made illegal and is now considered very dangerous due to the rock erosion).
UPDATE: On March 8, 2017 the Azure Window collapsed during a heavy storm. Both the arch and the stack are completely gone. I consider myself extremely fortunate to have been able to visit such a beautiful place before it was gone.

Located between Frankfurt and Würzburg in the small town of Mespelbrunn is the moated Mespelbrunn Castle. The castle's construction began in the 15th century and was completed in the 16th century by the Echter family. In 1665, the last male member of the Echter family died, but Maria Ottilia (member of the Echter family) had married Phillipp Ludwin of Ingelheim, a memeber of a family of barons, later made Counts of Ingelheim. In the 1930's the Ingelheim family was forced to open the site to the public due to economic pressures. Today, Mespelbrunn Castle is still owned by the family of the Counts of Ingelheim, who live in the southern wing of the castle.

In the lowest entrance into Triglav National Park you'll find the Tolmin Gorges. Two Alpine rivers converge into a gorge, which is quite a rare occurrence. The walk through the gorge takes about 1.5 hours - unless you're a photographer... in that case it will take several hours! There are many sites to see, including The Bear's Head, the spring of thermal water, Devil's Bridge and a cave named after Dante Alighieri. This was by far my favorite place in Slovenia. The whole area is breathtakingly beautiful. The aqua-colored water and rich greenery is just gorgeous.
